Our Farm
Catalina Farms is a family-owned broadacre cropping business located in the North Midlands of Western Australia, between Coorow, Buntine and Maya.
Our farming operation is focused on continuous cropping, producing grain for both domestic and export markets. Surrounded by expansive farmland, native bush and seasonal wildflowers, we’re fortunate to farm in a particularly beautiful part of regional Western Australia.
We’re approximately 20 minutes from Coorow, an hour from the coast and three hours north of Perth.
Our History
Catalina Farms has been part of the Birch family since 1960, when Trevor and Mary Birch began cropping the original sandplain farm.
In 1980, their son Rod and his wife Shelley took over the farming business and renamed the property Catalina, in recognition of Trevor’s connection to the PBY Catalina flying boat during World War II.
The next generation joined the business in 2018, when Rod and Shelley’s son Daniel and his wife Jen returned to the farm to help manage the growing operation.
Today, Catalina Farms remains a family-owned and operated business, continuing more than 65 years of family farming.
